                             David Vodden.

It is with sadness that we have to report that David Vodden passed away on Sunday 18th March 2012.

As well as his involvement with the Walsall National Trust Association, he was a past president of the Rotary Club of Walsall, a member of the Civic Society and the Walsall Photographic Society and for several years, Regional Chairman for the Royal Society of Arts.  He was an historian and has written several books on local history.

David was one of twelve local members of the National Trust who in April 1985 formed the Steering Committee for Walsall National Trust Association.

At the inaugural meeting of the Association held in September of that year, David was appointed Vice Chairman a position he held before becoming Chairman in March 1988.  He became Vice President in March 2000 and President in the autumn of 2004.

David devoted  time and energy to Walsall NT Association and his knowledge and expertise will be greatly missed. Our condolences go to Elizabeth and her family.

                        From the Outgoing Chairman

As my term as Chairman of the Walsall Association came to a close I would like to express my thanks to my committee members and all the team of helpers who have made my time in office relatively easy and most enjoyable.  May I also express my thanks to all the members who have given me their support and encouragement.  I am sure you will all give my successor the same support and I wish him/her as happy a time as Chairman as I have enjoyed.  Please take advantage of all the car and coach outings arranged for the summer, visit plenty of National Trust properties and enjoy your holidays.  I look forward to being with you in the autumn.

Ray Murray

The Management Committee and Members of the Association would like to thank Ray for all the hard work he did in his role as Chairman since the Autumn of 2009.  Ray has agreed to stay on the Management and Lecture Programme Committees.
